I’m really looking forward to Howl’s Moving Castle!

by Isondill (January 29, 2006)

You’ll love Howl’s Moving Castle Joshua. I had the lucky opportunity of seeing it in theaters. I’m suprised but our movie lists are basically the same. Which means I approve of the list. ;)

Joshua, did this guy rip off your site?

See this link: http://www.bartosz.co.nr/

Getting this straight, coding on my site is entirely made by me. I only used newinphilly.com as an example- it is a nice looking website.

If any sort of confusion occured, I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to rip off anyone’s work.

I didn’t mean to rip off anyone’s work.

Except you did. You ripped off not only my design, but my html and css as well. You also copied some of my content - the about page, pics of yourself, being an uncle - come on man! I realize imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this goes too far.

by bartosz (January 30, 2006)

Html and css are mine- that’s for sure. There is way more stuff in there that’s one thing. The other- some of the classes may have exact names- that’s because I used part of the coding- it wasn’t ripping though. As for some of the content- I agree, the sections are preety much based of your site. And what about me being an uncle of my cousin’s son. Nothing about families, please…

As for the rest of it. All right, I caused a misunderstanding. Expect changes on my site- as to prove I didn’t mean to rip off anything.

Once again, sorry for causing some sort of a problem- stealing anybody’s work isn’t my motto though…

Um, THAT’S THE DEFINITION OF RIPPING. If you think you are even close to having created something original, you seriously need to rethink your ‘career’ as a web designer. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Did I select any of the source code and hit copy?
Did I save any of the images?
When I load my site next to the original does it look 90% the same, pixel for pixel?

If you answer yes to any of those there’s a good chance you ripped. If you answer yes to two, it’s definitely a rip. And in your case its obviously a complete rip from beginning to end of the most egregious kind. Please, don’t try to explain yourself. Just never ever ever do anything like this again. You must realize that this kind of thing is against the law in this country and you could be sued.

A lively discussion on the rip-or-not topic can be found here:

And this picture may help some of you sort our your “feelings”:

“Original” refers to NewInPhilly. “Rip-off” refers to LostInUSA.

i’ve never really known how you, internet geniuses, define word “thievery”. I’ve grown sick and tired of people spamming my mailbox and posting comments and threats- yep, there were some…

if by any matter I stole your work, Joshua Lane, I’m sorry. I have had internet access for merely 2 years, and I’m a total noob when it comes to everything related to it. Let’s end this discussion. I’m finishing new design, and it will be up in a matter of day or two. This time, it’s all based on my ideas and i’m not inspired by anyone- guess, you just can’t be if you’re not into braking the law.

kind regards,
Bartosz Brzezinski
