10:00AM Traditional Design and New Technology
Kudos to Mark Boulton for really putting forth some compelling points and ideas. Do people make emotional connections with websites the same way they do with commercials, print ads, film, etc??
11:30AM How to Be A Web Design Superhero
Andy Budd and Andy Clarke really knocked this one out of the park. I was very entertained with their look at web designers and how they relate to the superheroes we know and love. Stan the boy wonder!
01:00PM Lunch
We headed to 6th street in Austin and went to a nice restaurant for lunch. Mark Boulton came along with the entire Pixelworthy crew and it was great fun.
02:00PM Jim Coudal / Jason Fried Opening Remarks
Listening to Jim was a real treat as I’m not too familiar with his philosophies on design, business, etc. Jason, on the other hand, just reiterated all the stuff you CONSTANTLY hear about on Signal vs Noise. And I’m curious… if LESS is better… why does 37 Signals keep releasing MORE products??
03:30PM Choosing the Right Design Partner
I skipped this panel and I’m glad I did. I spent the afternoon chatting with some really nice people out in the hall… networking at it’s finest.
05:00PM Starting Small: Web Business for the Rest of Us
Good, but mostly just common sense advice about going into business for yourself. The advice was solid, but I’ve heard it all before.
7:00PM Dinner at PF Chang’s
Another meal with Mark Boulton and the Pixelworthy crew. Good food, good friends, good times.
