NewInPhilly.com – A Blog

I’ve mentioned it a couple times before, but just to reiterate, I’m moving to Philadelphia soon. I haven’t found an apartment yet, but hopefully that will happen in the near future. The thing is, I’ve never lived in a “big city”, so the whole experience is quite exciting and intimidating at the same time. Not only that, but I don’t even know anyone who lives in the city, so I’m pretty much starting from scratch.

Therefore, I decided to create a blog about my experience:

The basic idea is that I will be keeping a journal of all the things I see and do in the city of Philadelphia. From meeting new people to exploring the city to taking photos, you’ll get to hear about everything.

I only plan to maintain the blog for a year (hence the name). That should give me plenty of time to get adjusted to my new surroundings, and life, in the “big city”. After that, the site will stay online as a record of my experience… for those wanting to know what it’s like moving to (and living in) a city.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. It would make for a fun read. Hope everything goes smooth in your new Philadelphia experiences.

To be honest…I feel some CSS Vault (or CSS Beauty, Stylegala) recognition coming when you launch that sucker. That’s beautiful!

Would be cool if you could dynamically place and rotate those side pictures directly from your photo gallery. I’m pretty sure there are some server components that could handle that.

Thanks for the comments James! I’m hoping the site can make it into those galleries too.

I’m not quite sure how I’m going to handle the photo gallery part of the site. Your idea is neat, but since I will likely be using this forum software for the galleries too, I’m not sure if it’s possible. I’m sure I’ll figure something out by the time the site launches.

If you need help, you’re welcome to shoot me an e-mail. I haven’t done anything quite like that, but I’m pretty good at hacking different components and systems together. You can find my contact info at http://www.xemion.com. Thanks and good luck!

If you haven’t stopped by Pat’s for a Philly cheese steak, you are well past due. Anyone around the city can tell you where it is. Enjoy the city it is a great place to live if you can stand the cold.
