My old apartment was awesome, but a little too expensive. And I didn’t even use all the space I had. So, I’m “downgrading” to a lovely studio in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Hopefully I’ll be moved in by next weekend.

I’ve joined team Virb as IA / Designer. Yeah, it’s pretty fantastic.

To celebrate, I’m inviting everyone to join me that evening (8pm, Monday the 27th) to drink some alcohol and make-out in a room!! Err… drink some alcohol *at* the Make-Out Room (22nd & Mission). Whew… that almost got awkward.

Bring as many friends as you feel like. And if I don’t know you very well, or at all – or we’ve only just met – please come anyway! That way it can be even *more* awkward. Kidding! Would love to see as many lovely faces as possible :)

TransitCamp (Feb 23rd-24th)

When: Saturday February 23rd (2:00pm in Room 2)
Where: Palo Alto, CA
What: “New Rider Stories” Panel (Joshua Lane, Tara Hunt, etc)

TransitCamp will highlight the public transit system in the Bay Area Region and will bring together transit officials and citizens to discuss stuff like: getting schedules on the go, the future of the Bay Area transit system, experiences and observations (not complaints, though), the websites, cool ideas for attracting more riders, etc.

SXSW (March 7th-11th)

As professional web designers and developers, we have more options than ever for how we want to spend our days. Maybe we do our best work at home? Or maybe it’s amongst a large group of people where we really shine? Regardless, technology (and flexible employers) have given us more freedom to examine these new avenues. Join us as we discuss and share the pros/cons of these new venues. What works? What doesn’t? And why?

Apartment

At the moment, my new apartment is very empty… no desk, no shelves, no tables, no rugs, no chairs, no couch. I have a bed, a couch due to be delivered in a few weeks, and my computer propped up on some boxes. Living the dream! I’m hoping to get things in order over the next couple months, but not having a car makes furniture buying a little difficult.

Job

For those who haven’t heard the news yet, I’m the new Senior Web Designer / Information Architect at Creative B’stro in San Francisco. It’s a small interactive agency that does a little of everything. They had a need for a senior-level web designer with IA experience. They also needed someone who knew the ins and outs of html and css. It’s a pretty good fit :)

Life

I haven’t done a great deal of socializing yet, but I’m taking my time I guess. Eventually I plan to get involved in some local design/web groups. And luckily I have a couple friends from college who live here, so I’m not completely lonely.

In a few days I’ll be boarding a plane to San Francisco and staying for 8 days. I’ve got a few interviews/meetings lined up and will be spending as much free time as possible looking at apartments. Hopefully I can snag a nice studio/1-br in the Nob Hill/Russian Hill area. It’s all a little daunting (to say the least), but extremely exciting. I’m leaving behind a bunch of amazing friends, and a pretty fantastic work environment at Urban Outfitters. However, I head to a place where I have a sister less than an hour away, good friends from college in the neighborhood, crazy hills (woo?), and (hopefully) a fantastic new job at a great company.

Wish me luck! And when I get back from my trip, I’ll be sure to share all the details on the new job and apartment. As well as some info on some Urban Outfitters stuff.
